Dr. Curtis Runstedler (IRIS Postdoctoral Research and Teaching Fellow) invites you to a double event featuring Alexander Weinstein, the bestselling author of the speculative fiction "Saying Goodbye to Yang" and Director of the Martha's Vineyard Institute of Creative Writing.

Film Screening: After Yang
When? Wednesday, April 16, 18:00 – 20:00 CEST
Where? Basement of the KII, Keplerstr. 17, "Tiefenhörsaal" Room M 17.02.
Join the screening of the 2021 film adaptation of Weinstein’s short story "After Yang", followed by a Q&A session with the author. The film addresses themes of race, identity, and AI, including the ongoing challenge of the "whiteness of AI."
Creative Writing Workshop

Alexander Weinstein, Dr. Bundschuh, and Dr. Curtis Runstedler will lead this session, encouraging everyone to participate and develop their best cyberstory ideas!
Weinstein is the founder and Director of the Martha's Vineyard Institute of Creative Writing and author of the short story collections "Universal Love" and "Children of the New World," which was selected as a New York Times Notable Book of the Year and a best book of the year by NPR and Electric Literature. His fiction has been featured in Best American Science Fiction & Fantasy and Best American Experimental Writing. His short story "Saying Goodbye to Yang" was adapted into the film "After Yang" by A24 Films, and it won the Alfred P. Sloan Prize at Sundance and the Boston Society of Film Critics Award. It was listed as one of Barack Obama’s Best Films of 2022.
